Matthew Tait

For 18 years, I’ve been shaping brands, products, and teams—blending design, strategy, and leadership to create meaningful work.

I double majored in graphic design and photography before starting my career at a small agency in Detroit, where I sharpened my core design skills before moving on to GTB (WPP) and Organic (Omnicom). There, I developed a strategic approach to creative work, collaborating across disciplines to build impactful campaigns. Over nine years, I grew from Junior Designer to Associate Creative Director, leading teams and guiding the creative vision for major brands.

In 2013, I took on my biggest leadership challenge yet: founding TAIT Design Co. What started as a passion project evolved into a nationally recognized product design company, with a line of handmade toys and modern home accessories sold in over 250 retailers, including West Elm, Restoration Hardware, MoMA, and The Guggenheim Museum. As both Creative Director and Founder, I led design, branding, product development, packaging, and marketing while also overseeing supply chain management, operations, and a growing team. Running this business gave me a deep understanding of how creativity and business strategy intersect—and how strong leadership fosters both. After a decade of building something I’m incredibly proud of, I decided to sell part of the business and move to Portland, Maine, seeking new challenges in creative leadership.

Since 2022, I’ve been part of the in-house agency team at Edward Jones, where I collaborate on high-impact initiatives that shape the brand’s presence and storytelling. My approach to leadership is simple: creativity thrives when people do their best, most fulfilling work. I’m passionate about uncovering what makes my team tick—leveraging their unique talents to create work that not only moves brands forward but also inspires and connects.
